TSURUOKA Yoshio

TSURUOKA Yoshio, Ph.D, is a Professor Emeritus at The University of Tokyo, and has served as the President of JARS since 2020. His main field of study is mystical thought in Western Christianity, especially Spanish mysticism. He approaches mystical thought from the viewpoint of contemporary philosophy and theories of religion. He also investigates the various conceptions and theories of “mysticism” that have arisen since the late nineteenth century. He is the former president of the Japanese Society for Neoplatonic Studies.
